The Smithsonian American Art Museum has a new exhibit called, No Spectators: The Art of Burning Man. The indoor and outdoor exhibition will be running until January 2019.

If you haven’t heard of Burning Man, it’s an annual event that is held in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert. The week-long event is a center for self-expression, admitting almost 70,000 people. Around the event, attendees can find large art installations such as these above. Learn more here.

US Botanic Garden

These photographs are from my first visit to the US National Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. It’s surprising to even think that I’ve been living in DC for almost 5 years, and I haven’t been to this big tourist attraction. When you become a local, I think it’s automatic to avoid the tourist attractions, but this is definitely encouraged to see.

You’ll be immersed in a mix of colors and smells, spotting various species of plants from different parts of the world.

Women’s March on Washington

What a historic moment to be a part of. I am so incredibly amazed by the millions of people who united and came out to support the Women’s March on Washington. For those who couldn’t make it to DC, there were also large marches being held in other cities.

I am grateful for all the women and men in my life who continue to support and fight for women’s rights. Let us continue to speak out, and make history for our families and communities.

09/17/16 Cate (my former roommate) came back to DC for my birthday weekend. A few months ago, Jess and I went out to Colorado to visit her and her hometown.

Adventure(s): Adams Morgan – Roofers Union

09/18/16 Celebrated my 25th birthday. More grateful each year to see how much has changed in my life: including how I progressed within my own mental and physical state, having the support and love of my family and friends, being able to work harder within my career and loving every second of it. But most importantly, knowing that growth plays an important role in my life and seeing how the people I love in my life also show and encourage this kind of growth.

Adventure(s): Duck Donuts, Shenandoah National Park, Iron Gate Korean BBQ

09/19/16 – 09/22/16 Making Cate’s trip to DC special and worthwhile before she heads back home to Colorado. We all saw a feminist play called Collective Rage: A Play In Five Boops and then finally tried a new restaurant called Bonfire that specialized in smores.
