Bisti Badlands

We traveled to the Bisti Badlands in San Juan County, New Mexico. The journey from Denver to NM was a long one, but it included several bathroom stops and pitstops for snacks. The Bisti Badlands, which means “among the adobe formations” is 45,000 acres of badlands (south of Farmington). The unusual, but vast rock formations will make you feel like you have the whole place to yourself.

White Sands National Monument

A few weeks ago, I went on a road trip with my best friends from college. We all met together in Denver and then drove to New Mexico. Our trip involved a few stops along the way, but I thought I start by posting one of my favorite spots from the trip. White Sands National Monument in New Mexico looks as breathtaking as it does in the photos. We hiked barefoot and rolled around the sand.

Barcelona, Part 3

I’m not an expert in the Spanish language, but I do know how to say tapas fluently. Most importantly, I enjoyed munching on all the tapas in Barcelona. Tapas is a selection of appetizers or snacks that are good before the late dinner. Patatas bravas is a common tapas dish in Spain, which consists of white potatoes served with a spicy tomato or aioli sauce. In the picture above, there’s a photo of patatas bravas, which was devoured instantly.

Joshua Tree

Located right in Southern California, Joshua Tree National Park is one of my favorite national parks. It has more than 750 species of plants blooming in the Mojave Desert, along with their wealth of trails for hiking, which Ben and I took advantage. We hiked up Ryan Mountain, a moderately easy 3-mile hike that brought us to a gorgeous sunset view.

San Diego

In early November, Ben and I traveled to San Diego. It was a┬ábelated birthday gift from him and a very special getaway for the both of us. After being 3 months apart, it was amazing to get some alone time with each other and explore somewhere new. Long distance isn’t easy, and I find myself missing him everyday.

We spent the majority of our vacation searching for the best California burritos and carne asada fries in San Diego. Part 2 of our trip is next. We visited Joshua Tree (Ben’s first time)!

Norfolk, Nor-fik

Oh, it’s pronounced “Nor-fik?” My GPS corrected me on my 4-5 hour drive from DC to Norfolk, VA. Traffic was a nightmare from the city, but it was worth it to see my friends this past weekend.

From visiting the Norfolk Botanical Garden to the Chrysler Art Museum, this smaller city outside of DC was a nice getaway for my birthday.
