Bisti Badlands

We traveled to the Bisti Badlands in San Juan County, New Mexico. The journey from Denver to NM was a long one, but it included several bathroom stops and pitstops for snacks. The Bisti Badlands, which means “among the adobe formations” is 45,000 acres of badlands (south of Farmington). The unusual, but vast rock formations will make you feel like you have the whole place to yourself.

White Sands National Monument

A few weeks ago, I went on a road trip with my best friends from college. We all met together in Denver and then drove to New Mexico. Our trip involved a few stops along the way, but I thought I start by posting one of my favorite spots from the trip. White Sands National Monument in New Mexico looks as breathtaking as it does in the photos. We hiked barefoot and rolled around the sand.

Shenandoah National Park

To celebrate National Park Week, Uriah and I traveled to Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. It’s about an hour and half from the District, which was a nice drive away from the city for the day. We got to escape the chaos for a bit of peace.

Take advantage of National Park Week, and visit a national park near you!

To continue updating on my road trip that I took with my best friends (back in March), here is part two of New Mexico. It’s hard to choose a favorite spot during the trip, but I can confirm that New Mexico was a great choice to start our journey towards California. NM is filled with so much Navajo history, and the beauty of the sunsets are hard to wrap around because they are unbelievably breathtaking. I remember the sky was a golden orange and pink (as seen in the last photograph). A photograph doesn’t seem to do justice though. You need to find yourself sitting on a mountaintop with your best friends, basking in the light and air of another part of the world you have not yet met. I was excited to introduce myself to New Mexico. You can see New Mexico, Part One here.
