Seoul, Part 1

I am officially back from my travels in Asia! It has been an unbelievable trip, and I’m eager to share my adventures with you. First stop, Seoul.

As the capital of South Korea, Seoul is known to be the city for food lovers or as Lonely Planet quotes, “heaven for passionate foodies.” As someone who loves Korean food, I can confirm that I was indeed in heaven. Although I had a few struggles with arriving in Korea on time (missed connection, but a surprise visit to San Francisco), I was able to make it there a day later than my planned arrival. Unexpected, but worth the visit to see one of my favorite cities in the US and my friend Misha who now currently lives there.

Upon arriving in Seoul, my best friend Alice picked me up and showed me some of the popular street food that is sold near her apartment. Some of the selections that she chose from the street cart included fish cakes with broth (odeng gungmul), blood sausage (sundae), and spicy rice cakes (tteokbokki) as my first dinner in Seoul. All under $10, so don’t worry about spending too much on food while you’re over here.
